Dizziness, Vertigo & Balance Clinic in Oman
Dizziness and vertigo usually have a treatable cause. Our balance clinic tests the vestibular (inner-ear balance) system, diagnoses the cause, and delivers targeted treatment and rehabilitation.
Vestibular testing
- VNG (videonystagmography) and caloric testing.
- vHIT (video head impulse test) and VEMP.
BPPV (positional vertigo)
The most common cause of sudden spinning vertigo — usually resolved quickly with repositioning (Epley) manoeuvres.
Balance rehabilitation (VRT)
A tailored exercise program that retrains your balance system to reduce dizziness and the risk of falls. Where clinically appropriate, SQHC incorporates controlled virtual-reality-based tasks to practise visual motion, gaze stability, balance and real-life environments progressively.
Why VNG and VR are not interchangeable
VNG is a diagnostic system that records eye movements to help identify vestibular patterns; virtual reality is a rehabilitation tool used only after assessment. Neither should be used as a shortcut to diagnose every dizzy patient, and urgent neurological or cardiac red flags require medical referral.
Frequently asked questions
When should I see someone about dizziness?
If dizziness recurs, affects daily life, or comes with hearing changes, book a balance assessment. Sudden severe symptoms need urgent medical care.
What is BPPV?
Benign positional vertigo — brief spinning triggered by head movements, caused by displaced inner-ear crystals; usually fixed with repositioning manoeuvres.
